The Friends of the Granite Bay Library is pleased to announce the addition of Susan Hogg to the Friend’s board.
Susan has had a long history with the library. She was a member of the Placer County Board of Supervisors at the time the library was being considered for Granite Bay. Susan helped to get the temporary library started and was actively engaged in obtaining the $2.3 million grant in 1990 and acquiring the land for the building.
“I have always thought highly of the library and its staff and all the community support the library continually receives,” Hogg said. “I’ve been a volunteer at the library throughout the years and feel I can be an asset to the board team. I am excited to be engaged in the sponsored children’s programs for the library, including Read for the Record and the Dr. Seuss Birthday party. I also want to continue finding ways to promote children’s programs, community involvement and enrichment.”
Susan has resided in Granite Bay since 1981 and has been married to her husband, John, for 40 years. John was the first president of the Friends of the Granite Bay Library Board..
Susan and John have two sons, who Susan said have also always enjoyed the library. Son Mike, who is 36 years old, is married to Morgan and together they have a 4-1/2-year-old daughter Aurora. Son Jeff, who is 33 is married to Stephanie and they have a 1-1/2-year-old daughter Allison.
“I have had the joy of taking both my granddaughters to the library for story time and checking out books,” Susan said. And I am hooked on the ebook library application so I can read on my Kindle and I can read to my granddaughters on my iPad – totally awesome! “
Susan retired 10 years ago from a career at the State of California as Deputy Director, Department of Motor Vehicles, Field Operations Division Deputy Director and Department of Transportation, Administration Division. Her new career love is as an artist specializing in oils.
