Boys Team Charity partnering with Friends of the Granite Bay Library on beautification project to spruce up the Library Grounds
The Boys Team Charity, Inc. is a national volunteer service organization for boy’s 7th through 12th grade and their parents. The nonprofit was founded in 2001 by families who wanted to teach their sons the importance of giving back and making a difference in their local community. They are dedicated to developing an altruistic spirit in young men through active participation of parents and teens in philanthropic projects in their communities.
One of BTC’s primary objectives is to provide opportunities for their members to use their time and talents to support their local philanthropies, to build a sense of social responsibility within their communities. This is the second year BTC is partnering with the Friends of the Granite Bay Library in a “Beautification Project” to spruce up the Granite Bay Library’s grounds.
“The Friends of the Granite Bay Library are excited to work with the local Granite Bay btc league to help revitalize our library grounds. It’s a wonderful partnership with the boys and their families and truly demonstrates the effectiveness of bringing together members of the community to make a positive difference. One of the unique aspects of this organization is that the volunteer projects require parent-son joint participation. It’s a combination of teaching, learning, and bonding” said Debby Bedwell, Friends of the Granite Bay Board President.
Krista Andersen, Class of 2027 and 2029 Coach, and Kasia Faughn, Philanthropy Liaison indicated, “We couldn’t do this project without the support & partnership of the Friends of the Granite Bay Library, Placer Parks who will be providing and delivering over 100 cubic yards of mulch. Scott Armstrong, Granite Bay neighbor, who is providing his trailer to haul and transport the green waste. We appreciate our District 4 Supervisor, Suzanne Jones, who will be a keynote speaker to share with the btc teens the value of their time and talent by supporting community projects.”
District 4 Supervisor Jones stated that, “Nothing makes me happier than to talk about our community members coming together and giving their time or money or both to make things better for everyone. We are so grateful to the Boys Team Charity Granite Bay League (btc) for their hard work and generous spirit. I’m so impressed by these young men! The lessons they learn today will in turn help influence others to volunteer and make a meaningful difference in their community. Bravo!”
Debby mentioned that the work will take place on 2 Sunday’s, 8/18 and 8/25 from 8:30 am -12:30 pm. Be sure to stop by the Granite Bay Library to see the BTC’s completed project and check out the Library, a place to learn, imagine and discover regardless of your age.
