The Friends of the Granite Bay Library organization recently presented the Granite Bay Library a gift of $15,000 to the library.

According to FOL President Debby Bedwell, each year the Friends organization contributes a substantial gift to the library. The donation amount each year is based on the proceeds the FOL group receives from various fundraisers the organization conducts including regular book sales and additional fundraisers throughout the year.

“Speaking of fundraisers, be on the lookout for two exciting events FOL is currently planning,” Bedwell said.

Bedwell said supporting the library is the purpose of the Friends organization.

“Thanks to all of our amazing donors the Friends of the Granite Bay Library was excited to donate $15,000 to the Granite Bay Library,” Bedwell said. “We will also again be able to fund programs such as Read for the Record and Read Across America as well as quarterly book sales and workshops. To make all this happen takes an incredibly committed Board. Together we dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours. Quite an accomplishment!”

Scott Noblitt, Granite Bay Library librarian, said the donation from the FOL allows the Granite Bay Library to purchase a variety of materials that benefit the Granite Bay community.

“Thank you to the Friends of the Granite Bay Library for such a wonderful donation,” Noblitt said. “With this donation we will be able to purchase additional materials for our Juvenile and Adult Nonfiction sections. We are all thankful to the Friends of the Library for their donation and this donation will help to put more books into the hands of Granite Bay Library patrons.”

“We’re looking forward to another fulfilling year that opens your imagination and helps everyone discover new things, people and places through reading and connecting us all to our community and library,” Bedwell concluded.
