The Friends of the Granite Bay Library are proud to present the Granite Bay Library with a donation of $10,000.
For the past several years the FOL has contributed a substantial gift to the library based on the proceeds it receives from various fundraisers the organization conducts including monthly book sales on the second Saturday of each month.
Scott Noblitt, Granite Bay Library librarian said the donation from the FOL allows the Granite Bay Library to purchase a variety of books that benefit the Granite Bay community.
“The donation will be used to purchase additional Vox and Wonder Books for the children’s area of the Granite Bay Library,” Scott said. “Vox and Wonder Books are print books that have an audiobook inside and play for the reader while they are flipping through the book. They are great tools for teaching kids to read and with the Friends of the Library donation, this already popular section of the Granite Bay Library will receive even more books to add to it.
In addition to these children’s books, Scott said the money from the FOL will be used to purchase travel books, tech help books, and additional copies of popular materials at the Granite Bay Library.
“We are incredibly thankful for this generous donation, and it will positively impact the Granite Bay community,” Scott said.
Sophie Bruno, assistant director of library services, said the Placer County Library is grateful for the support of the Friends groups.
“The Granite Bay Friends of the Library do a phenomenal job advocating for the library as a vital community resource for Granite Bay residents,” Sophie said. “I know customers will be delighted by the new materials they find on our shelves thanks to the Friends’ generous contribution.”
FOL Board President Debby Bedwell said supporting the library is the purpose of the Friends organization.
“Our fundraising efforts are really a team effort,” Debby said. “We partner with the community, local businesses and other nonprofits to enhance the library collections and provide other resources for our library.”
