This course is open to the community and is free. \nTo Register contact Pamela Dallas at 916-789-0326 or via email at pamela.dallas@eskaton.org \nInstructor: Susan Gibbs\nwww.ilanguagescalifornia.weebly.com \nSusan Gibbs has been teaching Foreign Languages (French\, German\, Italian\, Latin) and English as a Second Language for over 30 years. \nShe graduated from the University of Metz\, France with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and American Literature and Linguistics. \nMany of you have already met her as she was the Instructor for the recent Italian workshops coordinated at the Library in August. \nSusan has been teaching privately in the Granite Bay and surrounding areas for over 20 years and also volunteers at her church and in the community. \nWriting! Where do you start? \nThere are no rules other than that the story has to be interesting. It can be exciting\, scary\, fun\, funny or sad — but it must not bore the reader. So how do you make a choice of characters\, setting\, plot\, vocabulary and sounds? How do you keep a story idea small and focused? How do you put your text together\, proofread and edit? \nDuring the last workshop you’ll meet author Elaine Russell \nElaine Russell is the author of fiction for adults and children\, including short stories and the middle grade adventure series martin McMillan and the Lost Inca City and Martin McMillan and the Secret of the Ruby Elephant. Her novel Across the Mekong River was a finalist in the Carolina Wren Press 2010 Doris Bakwin Award\, the Maui Writer’s Conference 2003 Rupert Hughes Prose Writing Competition\, and the Focus on Writers 2001 Friends of the Sacramento Library Awards. The book won four 2013 independent publishing awards. She has written articles and spoken at conferences on the history of Laos and the aftermath of the second Indochina War. SUMMARY:Wine & Art Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for a Wine & Art Night at the beautiful Casque Winery in Loomis on Saturday\, September 28\, 2019. \nThe evening will include wine tasting\, tasty bites and appetizers\, artwork displayed and for sell by local artists\, the popular local band Barton Douglas Band\, a Wine Pull and Dessert Dash\, a fun evening mingling and dancing under the stars at the popular Casque Winery. \nAll proceeds from this event will go to the Granite Bay Library to purchase books for all ages\, materials for children’s programs and help foster the love of reading\, promoting literacy. \n All attendees must be 21 years of age or older. Tickets are $40 per person or $75 per couple online pre-sale and $45 per person or $80 per couple at the door. Online ticket sales ended September 27th\, but tickets will be available at the door. Buy your tickets early to save! \n
